Women were at the forefront of the 1971 Liberation War and the 2024 July Revolution- Advisor on Womenand Children’s Affairs

Sharmin S. Murshid, Advisor to the Ministry of Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs, said, “In all the struggles and crises we have, our women have always stood out brightly alongside men. In the 1971 Liberation War and the 2024 July Revolution, women were at the forefront, but over time, their achievements were ignored by history, as a result of which they disappeared from society.” She said, “The achievements of all the women who were martyred and injured while participating in the July Movement must be maintained in building a new Bangladesh, we will not let women disappear again.”
The advisor made these remarks in his speech as the chief guest at the reception of indomitable women of Dhaka Division under the ‘Indomitable Women Award 2024’ organized by the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s Office under the initiative of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy Auditorium today.
The advisor said, “The garment industry is an important backbone of our country’s economy. This industry is fueled by thousands of women’s energy.” Noting that agriculture is no less important in the economic backbone of our country, he said, “We easily forget the presence, hard work and contribution of our country’s women in this agricultural work. Over time, their achievements are ignored, and they are lost from our history.”
Every woman has a struggle in her life, and the achievements women make after overcoming this struggle are great, the advisor said, “Women who have set an example of boundless bravery in their work, morale, struggle, and courage are not just an award from society, but a big shining star in society, this award carries that message.”
The five best indomitable women were respectively the best indomitable woman who achieved financial success – Swapna Rani Ghosh, Rajbari District; the best indomitable woman who achieved success in education and employment – Masuda Akhter, Narayanganj District; the best indomitable woman who achieved success in successful motherhood – Selina Majid, Kishoreganj District; the best indomitable woman who has started life with new enthusiasm after eradicating the horror of torture – Lipi Begum, Faridpur District; and the best indomitable woman who has made outstanding contributions to social development – Samartban, Faridpur District. The success stories of the women in the 5 best indomitable categories and various contributions were shown. Later, the advisor presented the crests and certificates of honor to the indomitable women who achieved success in various categories awarded with the Indomitable Women Award.
The event was chaired by Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, while Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Momtaz Ahmed ndc, Director General of the Department of Women Affairs Keya Khan, and Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) of the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s Office Raja Muhammad Abdul Hai spoke as special guests.
